Following many years of successful fundraising, originally by Jon and Sara Nunn alongside farriers based within the Staffordshire area, donations were given to other, well deserving charities and individuals such as the Donna Louise Trust, Bob Champion Trust, Forces Children Trust and Douglas MacMillan. As the fundraising developed, it became very obvious that farriers are the most generous of professions.
Farriers from all over the UK and then many parts of the world began donating and purchasing samples of skill and knowledge to benefit those less fortunate.
The Farriers Foundation was born from a realisation by Jon Nunn, inspired by the late Richard Ellis DipWCF (Hons), that there is a need amongst our own profession for help and support, whether financial or practical.
“It’s not a job to me, it’s my life”
Richard Ellis DipWCF (Hons), 2012.
“The Farriers Foundation is a charitable incorporated organisation with the aim of providing relief of financial hardship amongst farriers or retired farriers and their dependants who, by virtue of illness or premature retirement or any other reason, have need of such assistance.”
